International Space Academy

Winner of Sister Cities International’s 2020 Award for Innovation in Education, the Space Academy is truly a unique experience! Student teams from La Cañada Flintridge partner with teams in Spain to design and construct their own launchers and rockets. The students are tutored in business and presentation skills, and learn entrepreneurial strategies. International summer exchange experiences are offered to selected students.  The program is open to students in any high school in the City in grades 10 through 12.  Spaces are limited and students are selected through an application process that opens in August.   Students are expected to attend all sessions and participate in additional group work.   There are additional events such as field trips and a graduation ceremony.   The program is after school and the location is in the city (to be determined).  Participants must be Sister Cities members at the Space Academy level, pay the dues and materials fee and turn in a parent permission slip/waiver.   Contact Dr. Amy Nespor at TheInternationalSpaceAcademy@gmail.com.
